Resident Services

NPCDC sponsors and supervises an on-site resident services program staffed by a licensed social worker. At Langston Lane, for the past five years resident services has been embarked on an effort to promote vegetable gardening, environmental awareness, and healthy eating habits. Thanks to a grant awarded from the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative, Inc. and donations from several local community members and organizations, we developed and run an inter-generational vegetable garden.

Community Partnerships

Ongoing relationship with AppleTree Early Learning Institute brings on an on-site public charter school to Douglas Knoll, providing early childhood education.

The Homework Lab is Langston Lane’s ongoing after-school program for all school-aged children. Children can come by the lab to study, research, ask for help, or help other children with their school work. The Homework Lab also has seasonal focused programs such as the spring and summer gardening program, summer field trips, and summer lunches! The Homework Lab is for kids ages 6-12, in grades 1-6. The lab is open Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. and has the space for 15 children at a time. The main goal of the Homework Lab is to provide a safe, stable environment in which to focus on homework and planned after-school enrichment activities.
